Hey everyone, welcome to the Automation Club. My name is Ben, and today we're going to be building an automatic downsell offer automation using Ontraport's Automation Builder.
This is going to help you greatly in recapturing lost sales by offering a lower tiered product or certain service. Let's hop in and get started.
If this is the first time you're seeing an automation map within Ontroport's Automation Builder, that's totally okay and we'll get you all sorted out.
Generally speaking, contacts will start at the top of this map and move their way to the bottom of the map. You'll see what I mean in just a second.
To get started, we're going to need a trigger element. A trigger element acts like an if-then statement. So if a contact performs a specific action or meets a specific criteria, then they'll be added to this map. In this case, the criteria here is they visited a landing page.
More importantly, that landing page hopefully has your offer on it. We have a Wait here, and a Wait step is how you create the time between two actions. So, they visited the page, and now we want to wait for them to perform an action with this Goal down here. The Goal is what you want your contact to achieve. If they don't achieve that goal within an hour, we're going to have them go down a different branch here.
If they do end up buying the product that's on that page, they'll just go down to this goal and they'll be done with this map. They've achieved what you wanted them to achieve. If, however, they do not purchase the product within an hour, they'll get an email. This email will generally pitch a lower tiered product.
You'll wait one day, and you'll send another email if they don't buy, pitching that same product but using a different angle. Wait one more day and, at this point, you can switch marketing channels if you'd like. You can send another email with a coupon code in it, or you can try reaching them via their phone on SMS. You will need prior consent to send somebody an SMS, but it is a different marketing channel that you can automatically send to using an automation map.
At the bottom here, we have a Goal again. It’s something that we want people to achieve. In this case, in this other branch here, we want them to buy that lower tiered product. If they buy the lower tiered product after email number one, they'll be brought down all the way to this Goal, and they will not receive emails two and three. If they buy from email number two, they'll skip email three.
Thanks for watching. Hope to see you again next time.
