By Pin Chen, CTO for Ontraport

One of Ontraport’s goals for 2015 is to introduce our Engineering Team to the world. Through the course of this company (eight years now), the Engineering Team has worked extremely hard behind the scenes building the product, but we haven’t been so diligent about showcasing some of the cool, exciting — and embarrassing — stuff that happens behind the scenes in the Engineering department. That ends today. Introducing the new Ontraport Engineering Blog and trust.ontraport.com.

Ontraport Engineering Blog

First, the new Ontraport Engineering Blog.

The Engineering Team’s role at Ontraport is to hurdle the numerous challenges faced by SAAS companies as they scale their infrastructure and expand their products. The Engineering Blog offers content to:

  • Help other engineers facing the same technical challenges we face.
  • Describe processes and tools we use to help our team be as efficient as possible.
  • Highlight the unique nature of the Ontraport Engineering culture.
  • Showcase our features, how we created them, and the thoughts behind our projects.

Visit the Blog.

Trust.Ontraport.com

Secondly, trust.ontraport.com, is where we really unveil the curtain. Currently in beta, trust.ontraport.com shows some of the stats related to our server, including Login Status, Emails Sent, and others. One of the big ones is the “Login Status” light. This check fires every minute and averages the login attempts across all our web servers. If the average time to login is less than five seconds the light will be green, yellow if between 5 – 10 seconds, and red if greater than 10. More stats to come in the future.

We also include our most current Release Notes going back to late January; we’ll update Release Notes at each meaningful release (we currently deploy code about  twice a week). We have big plans for this space. In the future you will be able to see a known issues list, future maintenance requests, and security and privacy updates.

Visit trust.ontraport.com.

We’re excited to share our experiences with the community and we hope you get a kick out of them.

Thanks!
