After years of research and development, we launched ONTRAPORT 5 - the world’s first and only complete visualization of the entire customer journey, and the only completely visual campaign performance reporting tool available that shows the results of online and offline marketing efforts, all in once place.

ONTRAPORT announced the release of a beautiful new user interface, making the platform easier to navigate and giving it a more clean and modern look and feel to reflect our brand’s evolution. Although the underlying functionality of ONTRAPORT remained the same, the newly designed skin increased both the usability and visual appeal of the app.

Happy 10th Birthday, ONTRAPORT

ONTRAPORT celebrated its 10-year anniversary with overflowing gratitude for the past decade of innovation, culture, growth and the opportunity to support thousands of entrepreneurs across the globe. Of course we had to celebrate with an anniversary shindig at ONTRApalooza and a year-long retrospective series on our blog.

With over 10 years of business building content to share, we created ONTRAPORT Education — our online learning platform to teach entrepreneurs and small business owners the skills they need to succeed in today’s competitive market.

Welcome, ONTRApages!

At our fourth annual ONTRApalooza, CEO Landon Ray unveiled ONTRApages, a free landing page builder and our first standalone software product. This easy-to-use tool allows entrepreneurs to build beautiful, mobile-ready landing pages from a library of proven templates or their own design. To top it off, all our ONTRAPORT users received access to the expansive new feature set of ONTRApages inside their existing accounts.

ONTRAPORT Australia

To cater to our expanding global market, we opened our first satellite operations base in Sydney, Australia. We sent two full-time Client Services employees Down Under to help train, onboard and serve our growing customer base.

After growing by word of mouth and spending virtually no money on advertising, our President Lena Requist began to form our own marketing team.

ONTRAPORT won the 2014 Innovation Award by the Business Intelligence Group for our all-in-one small business software. We also ranked No. 1148 on the Inc. 500 | 5000 with a three-year sales growth of 383%.

ONTRAPORT’s industry-leading feature, Custom Objects, was launched in its beta version. This revolutionary new feature gave users the capability to create and store new kinds of data sets within their ONTRAPORT accounts, to match their data to the way their unique businesses are run.

Bootcamp Live

Based on our own internal automation training course for new employees, we taught our first ever live ONTRAPORT Bootcamp training to over 150 small business owners. The course taught participants automation skills, marketing tactics, how to use advanced ONTRAPORT features and more.

ONTRAPORT 3.0 — a completely redesigned interface with upgraded workflow features — first hit the market. The upgrade increased our app’s functionality and included new features such as ONTRAmail, coupon codes and ONTRAPORT Mobile.

ONTRAPORT CEO Landon Ray was recognized as the 2013 CEO of the Year by The CEO Awards. ONTRAPORT’s Customer Support team was nominated for Customer Service Department of the Year and our VP of Client Experience Sean Cuevas was recognized as a finalist for the Stevie® Awards. As icing on the cake, ONTRAPORT ranked No. 96 on Forbes’ America’s Most Promising List.

ONTRAPORT Certification

To help our partners and clients excel in their marketing strategies, we launched ONTRAPORT Certification — the first live training program at our Santa Barbara, CA Headquarters. The ONTRAPORT Certification course taught participants the ins and outs of automation along with effective marketing and business-building strategies. At the end of the week, they had to pass a comprehensive exam to become an ONTRAPORT Certified Consultant.

What Happens in Vegas...

To improve ONTRAPORT’s system stability, scalability, security and speed, we began building out our server infrastructure at our new datacenter in Las Vegas, NV.

ONTRAPORT COO Lena Requist and VP of Client Services Rochelle Yoshida won Stevie® Awards for Women in Business. Lena was named Female Executive of the Year and Rochelle won Female Employee of the Year. In addition to the ranking No. 102 on the Inc. 500, ONTRAPORT was recognized as one of Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces in the US and was selected as a Red Herring Top 100 North America Tech Startup.

For the first time, we hosted ONTRApalooza, our (now) annual user and entrepreneurial conference. Over 300 guests from all over the world came to Santa Barbara, California to experience what Forbes magazine deemed “THE conference for entrepreneurs.”

We launched both our Payments and Partners Programs as well as PilotPress, our WordPress integration that helped our customers manage their membership sites with their OfficeAutopilot accounts.

Our New Home

Leaving the days of the backyard yurt and incubator behind, we moved into our own 5,000 sq ft office in the beautiful Riviera business park. We furnished it with folding tables, child-sized desks and chairs and Lena’s coffee maker from home.

As an upgrade to our original training method that simply instructed new hires to sit behind older team members to observe what they did, ONTRAPORT held its first new hire training class for our three newest employees.

Lena Joins the Team

With the software side of the business taking off, we needed a chief operations officer to help us successfully manage the operations of a rapidly growing organization. With her impressive background of scaling four startups into multimillion-dollar business, we welcomed Lena Requist to the team.

After seeing great results of having our Santa Barbara team work together in our incubator, we moved our small but mighty engineering team of Pin Chen and Steven Schneider into their new office in Santa Monica, CA.

We were excited to bring on our first customer support reps Brendan Dubbels and Larry Arone (who were infamous for working from home in their underwear.) We then quickly hired Sam Flegal and Steven Slayman, all of whom are still important members of our team today.

SendPepper is Born

By our third year of development, we launched an entry-level version of Office AutoPilot to the public. We went from a dozen customers to more than a thousand over the course of a few months!

After two years of nonstop software development, Office AutoPilot was born. As the predecessor of ONTRAPORT, the product was an all-in-one platform designed to put software to work for the world’s small business owners by integrating a powerful CRM system, email delivery and business automation.

Backyard Beginnings

In true startup fashion, ONTRAPORT was founded in a backyard yurt by Landon Ray, Pin Chen and Steven Schneider in Santa Barbara, California. Over the next two years, the trio worked without heat or air-conditioning (and barely an internet connection) to bring their debut product to market: Office AutoPilot.
