Using the apps from Ontraport’s Marketplace is the quickest, easiest way to add functionality to your account and deliver incredible customer experiences.
Need a blog? Want to launch your first course? Build a partner center? Run virtual events? We got you. These apps are like shortcuts that save you time and effort so you can focus on what matters most – growing your business.
In this video, I’ll explain more about how these apps work and how to get started customizing and using them for your business.
Enabling an app adds functionality to your site. Each app comes with prebuilt pages, messages, fields, forms, and automation set up for you – and it’s easy to customize it. It’s similar to an app you might download on your phone, but it’s for your Ontraport account. It’s also professionally designed so you’ll make a great impression on your customers when they interact with your business.
Now, you might be thinking, 'Couldn't I build this myself?' And the answer is yes, you definitely could. But the value of the app is that we’ve done the legwork – organizing the database just right, designing, testing, and tweaking – all using Ontraport best-practices.
Apps use dynamic content. In order to install one in your account, you’ll need a Dynamic Content Management System (what we call Dynamic CMS) package. To add a package to your account:
Go to the profile icon and click Account – which, by the way, you’ll only see if you’re the account owner. Where it says “Add Dynamic CMS to your account,” find a plan that works for you. Learn more about the details on our pricing page.
Ok! After you’ve selected a package, you can enable an app from your account.
Here are some of the apps available right now. You can do things like launch a partner center, set up your own forum, collect feedback from your customers, track deals in your sales pipeline, and more.
To give you an idea of what this experience is like, let's peek under the hood of the Courses and Lessons app.
Once you’ve toggled an app on, its related objects will be added to your Navigation bar along the top for easy access to each object’s records. They’ll each have custom fields set up to store data specific to that app.
You’ll also see new pages, dynamic templates, and automations created for your app.
Many of the apps, like this one, come with default records so you can see what the app assets and features are going to look like. Once you’ve played around with them a bit, you can delete these records.
I want to show you how easy it is to customize these apps.
Start by customizing your global blocks. You’ll just need to add your logo to your header navigation block, like this.
Another quick and easy thing to customize is your SEO and social settings. Add that info right here.
If there are other things you want to change about any of the pages that come in an app, no problem. Delete any blocks you don’t want, like this.
If you don’t like the color scheme of the pages, you can update that too. Let’s do that in this course overview page. I can play with different colors and font styles in the page settings here. If I update, let’s say, the “Dark” color here, that change will apply everywhere the dark color is used on the page – so it’ll still look good.
I can also make updates to the font styles that are used with each heading level on the page. Same thing here – if I update this headline font, it’ll apply everywhere a headline is placed on the page.
Quick design tip: don’t use too many fonts or your page will look messy.
Ok! Enough about style customization. Let’s talk about content for a moment.
With many of these apps, the magic happens with dynamic templates. There’s no need to copy a bunch of pages to make your various lessons. Instead, you’ll just add your content into a new record and that content gets pulled into a lesson template – instantly creating the page.
Let me show you what that looks like.
In this Courses and Lessons app, I’ll just hit this “Add new lesson” button, fill in my copy (boom! I did that super quickly), and publish.
Voila! Check out my new lesson page!
That gives you a glimpse of the power of apps and how easy they are to customize.
One more thing I want to show you “behind the scenes” of the apps. If you go to Systems in your account, you can find any apps you’ve enabled there, all organized in a nice folder. This makes it easy to find any dynamic page, landing page, automation, email, and more related to that app.
From here, if I want to update the copy of an email, that’s super easy to do.
In most cases, you won’t really need to update the automations, but if you want to, you can do that right here too.
From inside the app system, you can find the Notes tab with some general information about your app. Each app in the Marketplace has a Support Center article that’s really your best place to get all the detailed instructions on setting up and using your app – including a walkthrough video!
Ok! That gives you an idea of how apps generally work and what you can expect when you add them to your account. Be sure to check out our Support Center to read about each app we offer – with new ones coming out all the time!
The App Marketplace truly is your ally in efficiency. We’ve set up the framework so you can focus on what you do best – producing your products and content, and managing your customers.
