The blogs app system allows you to focus on creating and publishing new content by removing the administrative work of running a blog. Tailor the app’s professional design with your content, and you’ll have it up and running in minutes. It has everything you need to make it successful and engaging.

You can:

  • Foster interaction with the integrated commenting feature.
  • Stay in the loop with notifications for new comments.
  • Effortlessly handle new posts and oversee comments through Ontraport's user-friendly Card View.
How it works

This app includes two types of pages: a blog home page and a blog post dynamic template. To create a new blog post, you’ll add your content to a blog post record. When you publish, that content will then be automatically inserted into the corresponding fields on the blog post template, creating your blog post! And your new blog post will appear on your blog's home page and within your list of related posts.

To post on a regular schedule, your writers and reviewers need a way to stay organized and informed. This system streamlines this scheduling process by sending your content writers and reviewers email notifications about pending tasks. Set deadlines within the app, and it will dispatch email reminders to your writers. When you change a post's status to "Review," the app promptly notifies your reviewers, ensuring smooth collaboration and publication.

You also have tools for managing and moderating comments on your blog. In the comment card view, you’ll see all your new comments in the “New” column. Dragging a comment to the "Approved" column keeps it visible on your blog. Moving a comment to the "Spam" column removes it from your post.

There will be a different experience for regular members of your site and your administrators. When administrators view any of your blog pages while logged in, they'll encounter an administration block hidden from regular site visitors. This streamlines comment moderation and post content updates.

How to use and customize your system

Step 1: Get familiar with your blog!

  • There are two example contacts that you can use to interact with your site.
  • Copy the URL for your blog home page from your Blog app system. Paste it in your browser and log in to your site to check it out! Try both logging in as an administrator and as a site member. You'll notice example blog posts in there. Once you see how your blog looks, it’s easy to customize it to match your brand using the steps below.

Step 2: Click here to go to your blog app system.

Step 3: To create and publish your first post, click here to go to your Blog Posts collection.

  • Click + New Blog Post, and add your post’s information to the fields.
    • Post Content is a rich text field, so you can format it with bolding, line breaks, etc. This also makes it easy to copy and paste your post from a Google doc, or wherever you like to do your writing.
    • Click on the example published posts for examples of what goes in each field. You can also use this article for guidance.
    • Once you’ve created your own blog posts, drag the published example posts in here back to the IDEA BACKLOG. This will un-publish them.

Step 4: Update your reviewer in your automation.

  • Click here to open your Blog: Review Notifications and Deadline automation.
  • Click Edit.
  • Click on the checklist icon at the top to update your reviewer. Use the dropdown in the settings to select a user besides “Me.”
  • Or click on “UPDATE BLOG POST” on the automation map to update these settings.
  • Publish your automation to make your changes live.

Step 5: Launch your blog!

  • Click here to visit your blog’s system.
  • Copy your blog homepage’s URL in the LANDING PAGES section and start sending visitors to it!

Step 6: Moderate your blog comments.

  • Click here to go to your comment moderation card view.
  • Drag and drop approved comments into the “Approved” column.
  • Drag any unwanted comments to the “Spam” column, and the app will remove them from your blog.
Tips
  • If you want to add more administrators to your blog, follow these steps:
  • Interact with highly engaged leads by creating a group called Signed up for new blog post notifications.”You can either select all contacts in this group and manually send notifications or create an automation and add these contacts to it.
  • You can adjust the time frames for the internal reminder emails. To do this, adjust the Goal elements called “TODAY IS RELATIVE TO DATE FIELD” and the copy in the notification emails.
  • If you don’t love the color palette, customize it to fit your branding. Learn more about editing pages here.
