You know how to create, assign and complete tasks in Ontraport. But what happens next? That’s what I’ll cover in this video.

I’ll show you how to set up automation for every outcome you create for a task. For example, I’ll talk about following up with different leads based on how their sales call went.

You’ll only need to follow three steps to do this:
  1.  create a task template with task outcomes.
  2. Create an automation that assigns the task
  3. add goals for each of your different task outcomes in your automation.
  4. Then, you’ll customize the automation that comes after each outcome.

Quick note: This video builds on our three other videos about tasks. If you don't know how to assign tasks, complete them or create task templates, check out those videos first.

Let’s jump in.

As we talked about in the video on creating tasks, you’ll want to create a task template that has some task outcomes. You do that by adding the options that you’ll want to choose from when you complete this task. We did this in the previous video, and you can see how that looks here.

Next, let’s open the automation we built in the last video since our tasks are already in there.

Let’s review what we’re looking at here.

When someone fills out your “Contact Us” form, they’ll drop in here. Then a task will fire off and remind you to follow up. But we’re going to remove the end element here and get a little fancier.

The next step is to add goals for each task outcome.

You’ll remember that our task outcomes that we set up are “No answer,” “Not interested,” and “Interested and qualified.” I’m going to plug these into our automation.

I’ll do that using Goals. Add one here under your task — you’ll see this Wait show up automatically, as always. That’s where your contact will hang out until your goal is achieved.

Go ahead and pick “Task is completed” as your goal. Select your task — mine is right here, “Call New Lead.” Then you’ll see all your outcomes show up like this. Let’s pick “no answer.”

Now, if you call someone and they don’t pick up, their contact will move down here. At this point, you’d want to shoot them a quick email. You might say something like, “Hey, sorry I missed you! Call back when you get a chance.” Then after a few days, you could create another task for your team to try calling again. You can put it all together right here underneath the outcome. Easy.

Now let’s take care of the rest of your task outcomes.

Grab this goal by the crossbar here. Drag it over to this arrow and click “Copy only this item.” Now open up your new goal.

This time, I’ll choose the “Not interested” outcome. Under here, I’ll unsubscribe the contact so I don’t accidentally reach out again. I’ll tag them as “not interested” too.

That’s it! Keep doing this for all your other task outcomes. Once you’ve decided how you want to follow up after each one, you can hit publish and be on your way.

Now you can automate your follow-up to send the right messages to the right leads every time. Your prospects’ experiences will be nice and smooth and your job will be a lot easier.
