Host downloadable files and videos

Last updated on: December 30, 2024

When it comes time to deliver your valuable digital content to leads and customers, making it to the inbox is everything. In response to many inbox service providers (ISPs) interpreting file attachments as spam, Ontraport created File Manager — a tool that allows you to upload your files to your account and generate a download link that you can place in emails and on your pages.

In this article, you will learn how to upload your files to File Manager and add them to your Ontraport pages and emails.

Upload files

The file manager allows you to upload and host any file type such as DOC, PDF, MP3, GIF, PNG, JPG and WAV with a max size of 200 MB. If you’d like to host a video file, follow the hosting videos steps below.

  1. Click AdministrationDataFile Manager.
  2. Click Upload File and select your file.
  3. If the file name already exists in the File Manager, you can choose to replace the existing version or to rename the file you’re uploading.

Add file links to Ontraport pages and emails

  1. When creating an Ontraport page or Ontraport email, select the button or text element where you’d like to add the download link.
  2. Click the hyperlink icon and select Ontraport Hosted File to select the file link.

Add file links to non-Ontraport locations

  1. Click AdministrationDataFile Manager.
  2. Click on the name of the file to access your download link which can be added to non-Ontraport assets.

Hosting videos

You can host your video files in Ontraport, and add them to your pages in two different ways:

  • For Ontraport pages: You can add a video element to your pages.
  • For pages on your WordPress site: You can use the add media option from the PilotPress settings in the WordPress editor.

Upload a video file

  1. Prepare your video file for upload.
    • The Video Manager accepts most video file types (3GP, AVI, FLV, MP4, MPG, MPEG, OGG/OGV, WEBM and WMV). Any of these formats work when using the video in pages or on a WordPress site.
    • Make sure your video file is less than 200 MB in size. For videos that exceed this size, use a different hosting service such as YouTube, Vimeo or Wistia.
  2. Click AdministrationVideo Manager.
  3. Click New Video.
  4. Name your video and select your file.
